Remitly

Leading up to and following Remitly’s IPO, we were in a period of hypergrowth. From building brand awareness in new corridors and launching new channels, to rapidly testing and optimizing performance across established ones, we relentlessly looked for new ways to grow and retain our sender base.

CTV

In 2020, launching regional creative in NYC for our U.S.-to-Dominican Republic corridor was a top business priority. With in-person production plans off the table due to COVID, we worked tirelessly to ensure authenticity remotely, creating a Spanish-first TV spot.

Our goal was to achieve a CAC of $123, but we outperformed that target, bringing CAC down to $42. We also drove a 13% increase in NCAs, proving that we could deliver local relevance at scale.

Audio

For radio, we set out to test the efficacy of geo-targeted audio in as an acquisition channel — in two languages. Streaming brought 300 NCAs for the Dominican Republic, DJ talking points brought 800, and as result, audio is now a core channel for Remitly.

Paid media

When rising customer acquisition costs made our “how-to” videos unsustainable, we needed fresh content fast. I partnered with my creative director to audit existing assets and identify opportunities to extend their value.

Seasonal refresh for
Spanish-speaking senders

We refreshed existing video footage with a split-screen title treatment that concealed holiday decor, making the content appropriate for a summer air date.

Created in Spanish for our largest group of senders, the video has since earned over 79 million views.

Making static social move

We transformed an organic social carousel into video, simplifying the supers while preserving the original narrative. The video adds voiceover, animation, and music, reframes the visuals from a 1:1 aspect ratio, and supports easy adaptation across languages.

With 1.1 million views in its first three months, we repurposed it for web and paid social, opening the door to Google Performance Max.
